Caldera Table was created from the wish of unique yet fully practical form for a table – the pice of furniture that is probably as old as human civilization..

In order to not copy existing design and ideas I usually dive into the world of nature.  throughout various natural wonders the one that spoken to me exceptionally was the view of volcanic lakes – I still think that they are one of the most beautiful and naturally surreal places.  

The right form appeared during further inspection and research about the volcanic lakes. Finally, the cross-section of caldera became the perfect shape for my new table. (Caldera is the massive depression on the surface in the place where the volcano collapsed after the strong eruption).

To lighten up and add some irregularity to the very simple and monolithic shape I added holes that are going vertically in a straight line, leaving some of them to be visible on table top.
